Terms & Conditions

Instinct Moves – Massage & Bodywork

By booking a session you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms below. These terms are written in the spirit of the Myofascial Energetic Release (MER) Code of Ethics, which I uphold in my practice.

📝 Appointment Booking & Cancellations

  • Appointment details (name, address, phone number, email) are collected when booking. How this information is stored and used is explained in my Privacy Policy.

  • You may cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours in advance for free.

  • Cancellations made 6–24 hours before the session incur a 50% fee.

  • Within 6 hours, or in case of a no-show, the full session fee (100%) applies.

  • Session length, price, and any package terms are agreed with you in advance and will not change without your knowledge.

💬 Intake & Health Information

  • A brief intake form is completed before your first session to ensure safety and suitability.

  • You are responsible for providing honest and current health information so the session can be tailored safely and effectively.

  • I may ask follow-up questions about your health, comfort, and goals so we can set realistic expectations together for what the work can and cannot do.

✋ Consent, Touch & Draping

  • This work involves touch. Before we begin, I will explain the techniques I intend to use and why, so you can make an informed decision.

  • Your consent is always free, informed, and reversible. You may decline any technique, area of the body, or approach at any time, for any reason, without needing to explain.

  • For massage you may undress to your level of comfort and will be draped throughout — only the area being worked on is uncovered. You decide what you are comfortable removing.

  • I will check in with you regularly during the session about pressure, comfort, and consent. You can pause or stop the session at any moment. Withdrawing consent will never affect how you are treated.

  • If anything feels unclear or uncomfortable, please say so. Your feedback is welcome and will never be minimised.

🌬️ The Nature of the Work

  • Sessions may combine therapeutic touch with breath, movement, and nervous-system awareness. This can sometimes bring up physical sensations or emotional responses; this is a normal part of the process.

  • I work in a trauma-informed way and will follow your body's lead. If you wish, we can talk through your experience after the session.

🔒 Confidentiality & Privacy

  • All personal and health information is treated as strictly confidential and is not shared without your consent, except in the rare cases where I am legally required to do so or where there is a serious risk to your safety or that of others.

  • Full details of what data I hold, why, and your rights under the GDPR are set out in my Privacy Policy.

⚠️ Scope of Practice & Medical Disclaimer

  • My work is complementary care. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, treatment, or advice, and I do not diagnose medical conditions.

  • I practise only within my areas of training and competence. If something falls outside the scope of this work, I will say so and, where appropriate, suggest you consult a doctor or another suitable professional.

  • Results vary from person to person and specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

  • If needed, I may pause or redirect a session and encourage medical consultation.

  • Sessions may be rescheduled or declined if you arrive with acute conditions (e.g. fever, flu, contagious skin conditions, active cancer) unless you provide written consent from your physician.

  • I reserve the right to protect the safety of all clients and myself by pausing or adapting sessions as needed.

❌ Professional Boundaries

  • This practice is strictly non-sexual. Erotic or sexual services are not offered under any circumstances, even if requested or invited.

  • Any request of this nature will end the session, which will be charged in full, and I reserve the right to decline future bookings.

  • To keep clear professional boundaries, if a client and I wish to have personal contact outside the professional relationship, the professional relationship is ended first and a waiting period observed, in line with the MER Code of Ethics.

🧾 Liability & Personal Belongings

  • All personal and health information is treated as strictly confidential and is not shared without your consent, except in the rare cases where I am legally required to do so or where there is a serious risk to your safety or that of others.

  • Full details of what data I hold, why, and your rights under the GDPR are set out in my Privacy Policy.

🤝 Ethics & Concerns

  • I am committed to the MER Code of Ethics and to a safe, respectful therapeutic environment.

  • If you ever have a concern about your treatment, please raise it with me directly so it can be addressed. Concerns are taken seriously and handled with care.
